It has been around for so long it is often wrongly seen as 'just a part of life' or 'growing-up'. Bullying is about control! Bully's have low self esteem and want to put you down in order to make him/herself feel superior. This can be physical, mental or verbal, and can go on for any length of time.

Being bullied is very serious and should never be ignored, it seldom if ever just goes away.... it gets worse!, so if you are reading this and you are victim of bullying, or you know about someone who is, you must act now!

This can involve being punched, kicked, bit, slapped, tripped up (on purpose), theft or destruction of property. Anything that involves physical contact that a person does not want. This type of bullying can for obvious reasons become very dangerous if not stopped quickly.

The old rhyme 'sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me' simply is not true, words can sometimes hurt more than anything else. Being singled out and called names or having rumours spread about you. No one has that right over you, regardless if you are overweight, your skin colours different, gay, short/tall etc. etc...

This relatively new type of bullying called cyber bullying is growing at an alarming rate. Computers and mobile phones are everywhere, giving a new and easy platform to spread rumours, and nasty things electronically. It is getting more and more common for abuse to take place in chat rooms, via texts, e-mails, etc. In an attempt to stop this the government are imposing fines of up to a £1000.00 to the parents of those doing the bullying.

Have you ever witnessed someone being bullied? Do you know of anyone that has ever been bullied, and done nothing to prevent it from happening at the time? If the answer is yes to either one of these, you are guilty of passive bullying. You have an obligation to help.... A moral obligation!
